The IB Parents Association strives to provide IB students and families with informative, educational, social and supportive meetings and gatherings so that all may gain more knowledge about the IB program and the unique IB experience. We want everyone to feel supported and a part of the GW IB community. The IB Parents Association works hard to support our excellent IB faculty and staff by organizing teacher-appreciation events and coordinating volunteer time.

There are so many ways to be involved as an IB parent – the more you know, the more you learn how to help the greater the IB program functions! The IB Parent Association helps to foster communication and the exchange of ideas: we are allies for the success of our IB students and our IB program!

Our monthly meetings this year will again be on the second Tuesday of each month, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. IB Parents Association meetings are designed to be either educational and informative meetings, or social events to give IB families a chance to stay connected with other IB students and parents.

We welcome and encourage donations, which will increase the ability of the Association to support the IB Program, as well as other programs at GW in which many IB students participate. A generous response from our IB families will help us to keep the IB Program at GW as strong as ever!

IB life is exciting, all-encompassing, challenging and rewarding. The IB Parents Association is a direct way to stay connected, to be “in the know” and to help our kids succeed not only as IB students, but also as ‘citizens of the world.’

Friends of IB Scholars Foundation

The Friends of IB Scholars Foundation was established by a group of IB parents and faculty in 1995
to support the IB program at George Washington by funding activities related to the GW IB program. These activities include loans to needy students for the cost of IB exams and books; grants to teachers for advising on IB extended essays: requests from IB teachers for equipment, books, subscriptions, and continuing education: loans to the Model UN group, support for National History Day participation by IB students, and other such requests. The Foundation also funds the position for the part-time college counselor for IB juniors and seniors.

Through its tax exempt 501(c)(3) status, the Foundation offers the opportunity for tax deductible contributions. The Foundation Board, comprised of IB parents, an IB faculty member, IB Program Coordinator Suzanne Geimer, and alumni parents meets several times a year concerning funding requests.

Contact Tom Zeiler, President, Friends of IB Scholars Foundation, for more information. thomaswilliamzeiler@gmail.com.
